Internet speeds vary depending on your ........................................ The speed of your Internet connection depends on bandwidth. I know it's not the width of the connection, but what is it?Bandwidth describes the ....................................... range that your Internet connection will transmit data. What? Hold on, let's go back a step.

Data are transmitted by ........................................ The waves travel along wires, ....................................... fibres and between earth and satellites. They can travel up to three hundred thousand kilometres per ....................................... - the speed of ........................................ That's seven times around the earth in just one second - faster than superman! You can't see these waves but they're there.

REPORTER: This is an oscilloscope and it allows us to see waves that are normally ........................................ This is one wave. Frequency is the number of waves that pass a point, or cross this screen, in one second. If I increase the frequency you can see the number of waves increases.

By changing the number of waves, I can create millions of different frequencies. Bandwidth is the number of frequencies. The more frequencies the greater the bandwidth. All this information is enough to make your ....................................... explode!

REPORTER: When tuning a ....................................... you choose just one frequency and listen to one radio station. If we chose all the frequencies we would receive all the information from all the radio stations at once.

But when you surf the net, the more frequencies you have the better. Each frequency is like a ....................................... on the bandwidth highway, the more lanes the more ....................................... you can send to and from your computer.By using some frequencies for your phone calls and others for your Internet, you can talk on the phone and surf the net at the same time.

It's not just frequency or bandwidth that's important but the amount of data you are trying to send and receive. The size of music, text, pictures and video files are measured in ........................................ The more complicated the information the greater the number of bytes.

For the record, today, Thursday 27th July 2006, we started our Learnscope Professional Development course with Philip The Great, alias "Philip Der Grosse".
I am really enjoying it... and he is having trouble answering millions of questions coming from mature individuals taking part in the course. He is being bombarded with questions, poor him!
I am happy to be learning about blogs (not blokes) and blogging etc (I hope I spelled it right).
